PANAJI: The Goa government has suspended the trade licence of Ola Electric for vehicle sales in the State following a surge of complaints from users about poor after-sales service and long delays in registration processes.
The action was taken after several Ola scooter owners submitted a memorandum to the Transport Department and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, seeking urgent intervention.
Complainants alleged that nearly 2,000 Ola scooters remain unattended or unrepaired across the company’s three service centres in Goa. They further claimed that service staff routinely provide evasive responses about repair timelines and fail to resolve technical problems.
Customers also raised grievances about prolonged delays in receiving registration certificates for their vehicles, adding to their frustration. “The company’s after-sales support has been severely lacking, causing considerable inconvenience to users,” the memorandum stated.
The affected owners had demanded that Ola’s sales operations in the State be halted until all defective vehicles were repaired and service operations improved.
Transport Department officials confirmed that the trade licence suspension is a temporary measure, pending corrective action by the company.
The move has triggered widespread discussions among electric vehicle users in Goa, many of whom are calling for stronger oversight of EV manufacturers and more reliable after-sales systems.
