Panaji: In a strategic move to bolster its tourism sector, the Goa government has joined forces with the Taj Group to launch a pioneering hospitality skilling centre. This ambitious initiative, unveiled recently, is poised to become India’s largest facility of its kind, offering specialized training programs designed to meet the evolving demands of the global hospitality industry. By equipping local youth with the skills necessary to excel in this competitive field, the centre aims to not only enhance individual career prospects but also reinforce Goa’s status as a premier global tourism destination.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant underscored the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing its role in advancing skilling, reskilling, and upskilling opportunities for Goa’s youth. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (Taj Group) and the Directorate of Skill Development, Goa, was signed in the presence of key dignitaries, including Education Secretary Prasad Lolyekar and Managing Director & CEO of IHCL Puneet Chhatwal.
The skilling centre will offer a comprehensive range of training programs and workshops tailored to meet industry demands and global hospitality standards. This initiative marks a major step forward in the government’s commitment to fostering a skilled workforce, thereby contributing to the state’s economic growth and solidifying its position in the global tourism landscape.
