POVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today announced that Cabinet has approved the signing of Mining Development and Production Agreement (MPDS) with Vedanta Limited for its Bicholim Mineral Block.
“Cabinet approves signing of Mine Development & Production Agreement (MPDA) with M/s Vedanta Ltd for its Mineral Block I located in Bicholim & comprises of Bordem, Lamgao, Mulgao, Mayem and Sirigao villages,” said Sawant
He further said that Vedanta Ltd is the only firm to get Environmental Clearance (EC) for its mineral block.
“No other company has completed all other formalities. Vedanta Ltd is the only firm,” he added.
The Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) had granted Environmental Clearance to M/s Vedanta Limited for its mineral block at Bicholim. This was the first EC granted to mining lease post suspension of the activities.
In a communication to Vedanta Limited, the Ministry has granted EC for Bicholim block I having iron ore production capacity of three million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
