PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant declared that the State government would rebuild the Dev Khapreshwar temple in Porvorim at the new location where the associated banyan tree is being moved.
However, the promise did not calm the unruly crowd that had gathered at the location where workers were tearing down the temple and trimming the tree in preparation for the move under strict police supervision.
The Chief Minister’s office issued a brief statement on Sunday night stating, “The Goa government will rebuild the Dev Khapreshwar Temple at the new location of the transplanted banyan tree.”
