PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today assured to compensate farmers for their loss due to rains within 2 months, before Ganesh Chaturthi.
The Ruling as well as the opposition raised the issue pertaining to their constituencies and demanded compensation due to heavy rains destroying fields.
“We will compensate farmers for their loss due to rains within 2 months, before Ganesh Chaturthi amount will be credited to their bank account,” said Sawant
Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik also assured to compensate farmers for thier loss due to heavy rains.
“have directed Agriculture Director to submit report of farmers affected,” said Naik
Leader of Opposition (LoP) Yuri Alemao said that farmers are everything, there should be no injustice to farmers, compensation has to given very fast.
Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye said that farmers are not receiving any real benefits; it’s all just on paper.
“Some farmers don’t even have a Krishi card. I urge the government to provide real benefits to farmers, and the results should be visible on the ground,” said Shetye
Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral said that fields are underwater due to land filling and conversion of land and government should look into these issue and take action.
Minister Ravi Naik informed the House that Directorate of Agriculture implements State Sector Scheme Shetkari Adhar Nidhi to provide compensation to the farmers due to Floods, Inundation etc.
“In view of recent incessant rains during past few days the Directorate of Agriculture has taken note of the same and instructed all the Zonal Agriculture Officers to assess damage to Paddy and Other fields Crops,” he said
Min Naik said that Farmers have also been told to apply under Shetkari Adhar Nidhi in prescribed format with supporting document.
The crop loss paid to farmers for field crops I.ePaddy, Vegetables, Pulses, Flowers, Nachani etc. Rs.40,000/- per ha.
“The eligible farmers will be paid compensation upon applying as per guidelines as early as possible,” Naik assured
