PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that his department will soon come out with a list of fierce dogs that will be banned.
“Department will soon come out with a list of fierce dogs that will be banned. Henceforth, we will not allow anyone to purchase dogs that are on the list,” said Sawant.
He further said that he has ordered the AHVS to compile a list of vicious dogs.
“Once the list is finalised, the home department will ask Goa police to implement the ban,” he stated.
We can’t order dog owners to give up their pets, but going forward, we won’t let anyone to buy any of the dogs on the list, Sawant said.
Sawant stated that anyone disobeying the state government order will be penalized and possibly arrested.
According to Sawant, some breeds are predisposed to attacking people, frequently as a result of neglect on the part of their owners.
Earlier, Sawant had said that the state government will ban certain breeds of dogs which attack the humans.
He said that the government intends to eliminate rabies thereby making Goa rabies free and to achieve this goal, people’s participation is must.
“The Static Point Vaccination campaign intends to vaccinate every dog in the State wherein people have to cooperate with the stakeholders of Mission rabies who will visit door to door,” he said.
