PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa Government has the highest reservation Kota for Persons with Disabilities amongst other states.
“The reservation quota in Goa is the highest in the nation and it has been increased from 3% to 4%. Also government has the highest paying pension of Rs 3,500 for 80% of the retired disabled while the rest get Rs 2,000.” said CM Sawant
He further said that the state government has made capital city of Panaji, A disability friendly city and we plan on making the public Building Disable friendly too.
“Union Government and the Government of Goa is taking proactive steps for the welfare and all round development of the Divyang Jan.,” He added
Sawant also offered to make the Purple Fest an annual event if other states do not show interest in hosting it.
As part of the festival, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in association with Office of Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD) is organising a two days Sensitization Workshop on 6th and 7th January in Goa.
The workshop will feature best practices in the field of disability with a focus on improving accessibility addressing implementation related issues of various schemes and programmes for Persons with Disabilities, and innovations and action plan in the field of accessibility.
The workshop will witness participation from stakeholders from all over the country.
