“Goa is setting a remarkable benchmark in child nutrition, with the lowest child stunting rate in India at just 5.84%,” said Rane
He further said that alongside this, the state also reports minimal malnutrition indicators, with wasting at 0.85% and underweight children at 2.18%.
“These achievements reflect Goa’s effective nutritional policies and commitment to ensuring healthier futures for its children,” he added
By providing access to quality education, nutritious food, safe environments and opportunities for social-emotional learning, Rane said that we can empower our little Goans to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
Speaking further, Rane said that the Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram, a comprehensive scheme designed to safeguard the health of pregnant women and newborns across the state, is a wonderful program.
“Under this initiative, expectant mothers are entitled to free delivery services, including caesarean sections, along with free drugs, consumables and essential diagnostic tests like blood work, urine tests and ultrasonography,” Minister said
Additionally, we provide free dietary support for three days post-normal delivery and seven days after a C-section, along with free blood provision and transportation to and from health centres. Our commitment is to ensure safe motherhood and a healthy start for every newborn in Goa.
