Panaji: Goa continues to strengthen its reputation as an emerging technology hub as global technology firm McLaren Strategic Solutions inducted 20 final year engineering students from leading technical institutes in the state into its global workforce. The students received their Letters of Intent during a special interaction session held in Panaji.
The event was attended by the Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, who joined the chairman of the company in presenting the appointment letters to the selected candidates. Senior representatives from the technology sector and state institutions were also present, reflecting the growing collaboration between industry and government to support the state’s digital ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister described the moment as a proud milestone for the students, their families and the technology sector in Goa. He highlighted that while Goans possess immense talent, limited exposure and opportunities in the past often forced many to seek careers outside the state. Strengthening industry partnerships and expanding technology investments within Goa aims to create sustainable career paths so that young professionals can build successful futures without leaving their home state.
During an interactive session, the students engaged with the company chairman on various topics including business growth, global market opportunities and the importance of strong organisational values. The discussion provided aspiring engineers with insights into the rapidly evolving international technology landscape and the expectations of global companies.
The chairman explained that Goa was chosen because of its untapped potential, educated talent pool and strong communication skills among young professionals. He also pointed to the state’s positive environment, quality of life and supportive governance as key reasons behind the company’s decision to expand operations locally.
The recruitment drive began earlier this year, with candidates evaluated not only on academic performance but also on practical exposure. Many of the selected students had actively participated in multiple hackathons and technology competitions, demonstrating innovation and hands on technical skills.
This year the company increased its intake of Goan engineers to 20, up from 15 hires last year, selecting graduates from several engineering colleges across the state. The new recruits are scheduled to begin their full time roles in August 2026.
With increasing collaboration between government, educational institutions and global technology companies, Goa is steadily building a strong IT ecosystem. The initiative is helping retain local talent while allowing young professionals to contribute to global innovation from within the state.
