PANAJI: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and during the Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrations, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced a personal contribution to honor the city’s sanitation workforce.
Speaking at the event, Minister Rane said, “I told the municipal authorities that my salary will be used wherever it is needed. I have decided to give each of the city’s 54 sanitation workers ₹20,000 each from my personal contribution, to ensure good work is carried on for Goa.”
The gesture recognizes the essential role sanitation workers play in maintaining public hygiene and advancing the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. The state is focused on 100% waste segregation, scientific legacy waste management, and waste-to-wealth initiatives, with active citizen participation.
Minister Rane emphasized that this initiative is a concrete step in turning Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness into reality, highlighting that “Sanitation is more important than independence.”
By directly supporting those who work tirelessly to keep the city clean, the Health Minister set an example of leadership that values and rewards dedication at the grassroots level.
