Panaji: In a bid to bridge the gap between cutting-edge drone technology and real-world applications, a five-day faculty development program on remote sensing and GIS in drones concluded recently in Goa. Supported by the Directorate of Higher Education, this collaborative effort between the Electronics and Computer Engineering Department of Agnel Institute of Technology & Design Assagao and the Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sankhali, brought together a diverse group of educators and experts.
The event was graced by prominent figures such as Rev. Fr. Vicky Hilario, Assistant Director, Agnel Technical Education Complex, and Shri. Bhushan K. Savaikar, Director, Directorate of Higher Education. Faculty members from across DHE-affiliated colleges actively participated in the program, which aimed to equip them with the skills needed to integrate drone-based geospatial technologies into academic and industry projects.
Eminent speakers including Shri Malcolm Afonso, Prof. Honne Gowda, Dr. Chintamani Pai, Dr P. Anand, and Hiran Gabriel D J led comprehensive sessions. The successful program marked a significant step forward in enhancing Goa’s educational and research ecosystem by leveraging drone technology.
