PANAJI: In a significant stride toward professional training in fire and emergency services, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, Goa, successfully concluded a first-of-its-kind Practical Attachment Program for 10 final-year B.Tech trainees from the National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur.
Conducted from April 1 to May 15, 2025, this 45-day attachment provided a comprehensive blend of technical and operational exposure.
The program included 30 days of active station duties at the Panaji Fire Station and Fire Force Headquarters, along with 15 days of field experience in high-risk occupancy areas such as industries, malls, hospitals, hotels, and high-rise commercial complexes.
The initiative marked a pioneering effort by the Directorate to host such an immersive program, reinforcing its commitment to modernizing fire services and enhancing inter-agency training frameworks.
At the valedictory function held on May 15, Director Shri Nitin Raiker commended the NFSC trainees for their commitment and performance.
He highlighted the importance of practical training in preparing future fire officers to meet complex safety challenges and urged them to share the skills and insights gained during their Goa attachment across their future postings.
Shripad Gawas, Divisional Officer (North Zone), and Pundalik Parab, Deputy Director (Administration), also attended the event. Station Fire Officer Rupesh Sawant conducted the ceremony, while Gawas delivered the Vote of Thanks, appreciating both the trainees and the supporting institutions.
The Directorate expressed optimism about expanding such collaborative efforts in the future to build a stronger, more responsive fire safety network across India.
