Panaji: As the architecture landscape in Goa continues to evolve, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) has taken a significant step towards digital transformation by organizing a workshop on the Online Building Plan Approval System (OBPAS). This innovative initiative aims to revolutionize the way architects navigate the building plan approval process, leveraging technology to streamline approvals, enhance compliance, and improve efficiency through the Goa-IDC’s OPEN portal. By aligning with these goals, the corporation is not only modernizing its operations but also fostering a more transparent and efficient environment for industrial development.
At the heart of this endeavor was a comprehensive workshop that drew over 50 architects, each eager to explore the functionalities and benefits of the OBPAS module. The session provided a detailed demonstration of the system, allowing participants to delve into its operational framework and gain practical insights into the submission and approval workflow. Shri. Pravimal Abhishek, Managing Director of Goa-IDC, underscored the corporation’s commitment to digital transformation in industrial infrastructure development. He emphasized how OBPAS simplifies the approval process by allowing industries to apply for both technical clearance and construction licenses through a single application. This integrated approach not only accelerates construction approvals but also ensures transparency, marking a significant departure from the previously opaque processes.
A distinguishing feature of the OBPAS is its built-in compliance verification tool, which enables architects to check their plans against regulatory requirements before submission. This feature is crucial in reducing errors and saving valuable time, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the system. The digital platform is powered by a reliable system developed by the eGov Foundation in Bengaluru, a technology that has already been successfully implemented in over 2,500 towns and cities around the world. During the workshop, participants were not only treated to a live demonstration of the portal but were also encouraged to provide feedback, offering critical insights that will help fine-tune the system for better usability.
One of the workshop’s notable achievements was the review of the Architect Manual prepared by Goa-IDC. This detailed guide was scrutinized by participants, who offered valuable suggestions to enhance its clarity and usability. This collaborative effort aligns the regulatory framework with the practical needs of architects, paving the way for a more efficient and architect-friendly approval process. With such initiatives, Goa-IDC is poised to significantly improve the approval system, contributing to the state’s industrial growth while cementing its role as a leader in digital advancements.
