Panaji: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) held its 395th Board Meeting on April 16, 2025, in Panaji, focusing on bolstering the state’s industrial infrastructure and promoting sustainable growth across its industrial estates. The session witnessed key government and industry leaders, including Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho and Goa-IDC Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, who discussed ongoing and upcoming initiatives to enhance industrial facilities and address stakeholder concerns directly.
Minister Mauvin Godinho announced a dynamic outreach program initiated by Goa-IDC’s Managing Director, Pravimal Abhishek, involving on-site visits to all industrial estates to resolve long-standing issues. The Minister highlighted that infrastructure projects valued at over ₹100 crore are underway or near completion, including road white-topping and improvements in water and electricity services — upgrades being implemented for the first time in many estates. He emphasized a commitment not only to functional infrastructure but also to fostering cleaner, healthier work environments. In tackling waste management, Goa-IDC is establishing Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) tailored to each estate’s waste volume, an effort to transform estate beautification beyond mere aesthetics.
Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco detailed that the infrastructure improvements encompass road enhancements, water supply upgrades, dust control, and essential civic amenities. A landmark initiative to support the industrial workforce involves building five exclusive hostels for working women—two in Verna and one each in Kundaim, Madkai, and Cuncolim—each housing 120 residents, a first in Goa’s industrial zones. The Board also approved a Standard Operating Procedure for managing excavated soil, designating soil as Goa-IDC property and stipulating controlled disposal at specified collection points to maintain operational uniformity.
Building on the successful IDC Connect 2023, the ongoing IDC Connect 2024 series engaged industrial units across the state to gather demands relating to roads, drainage, utility spaces, compound walls, and estate beautification. In response, infrastructure projects totaling an estimated ₹49.25 crore were sanctioned to improve these critical areas. The Board reiterated its resolve to advance Goa’s industrial ecosystem through proactive governance, infrastructure modernization, and robust stakeholder engagement, aiming to enhance the ease of doing business and elevate the quality of life within industrial estates.
