CANACONA: Stating being a small State, Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (RCONF), Bangalore Regional Director V K Verma said Goa shall be considered as a model State in Organic and Natural Farming.
Speaking further at the One-Day Workshop for Organic and Natural Farming at Lata Mangueshkar Kalangan, if we do not turn to organic cultivations and continue with chemical fertilizers the earth (soil) will no more be in a position to produce our daily food, as the frequent use of fertilizers which heavily contains chemical will turn the Soil useless for cultivating any type of produce.
Stating Fields have become less . but more hospitals, Verma said, ‘What we sow we get, to increase and hasten productions we have heavily turned towards hybrids methods which are very harmful not only to our health, but the healthiness of Soil gets destroyed and our cultivating fields becomes fully dependent on chemicals to give yields’.
‘We don’t have quality food, though we have so much of food, no one is happy with the quality of the food. Soil which contains living organisms is our ventilator, we must keep it alive by practicing natural manuers as much as possible and completely ignore use of chemical fertilizers. This is also going to protect our environment’. Chemical usage is gone beyond reversible and very threatening and unhealthy, whereas our aim is to organize organic farming, which is healthy to the earth (Soil) and too healthy and nutritious to our health. People should and prefer Organic food for healthy lifestyle’.
