PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that the social media films that went viral and accused him of being involved in several scams are ‘politically driven’ and lack solid proof.
In a video message that was made public, Sawant said that the films were meant to undermine the administration, sow discord, and damage his reputation.
“Over the past few days, a video has been spreading widely on social media, damaging my reputation. It’s obvious that these news stories and videos have political overtones. Political factors are responsible for it. “There is no real evidence to support any of the accusations made in it,” he stated.
Regarding recent crises like land grabbing, Zuari Agro land fraud, job scams, financial crisis, etc., he denied claims made in viral videos and print media from outside Goa.
“With regard to land grabbing, I am the only Chief Minister who established the SIT and One Man Commission, accepted their recommendations and took suo-moto cognizance of the crime committed over the last 20 years,” he declared.
According to Sawant, 99 properties have been seized, 58 suspects have been taken into custody by police, and six government employees have been suspended.
The Chief Minister said that Zuari Industries had received the community land long before he was born and promised to uncover the middleman and agents who were in charge of selling plots, converting land, and collecting fees.
Goa is among the strongest States financially, according to Sawant. He claimed that even though the State borrowing cap was raised to Rs 4,200 crore, market loans were still much less than that amount.
