Panaji: Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, launched the NAKSHA (National Geospatial Knowledge Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations) pilot project, a significant initiative under the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP). This project, fully funded by the Central Government, aims to revolutionize urban land records using advanced geospatial technologies.
Dr. Sawant emphasized that the project will enhance urban planning, facilitate fair and seamless land dealings, and aid in disaster management. He highlighted that Goa, despite its small size, has been selected to participate in this nationwide initiative, with Panaji, Margao, and Cuncolim being the chosen locations.
The Chief Minister reassured the public that the project, which involves surveys using drones and the creation of GIS-based 3-D maps and title deeds, will not alter existing land titles but will instead provide accurate and updated records for taxation, encroachment removal, and city planning.
Commissioner cum Secretary, Revenue, Sandip Jacques, IAS, underscored the project’s national scope and its benefits for both the government and the general public. He pointed out that NAKSHA will improve land revenue collection and resolve land disputes, urging the cooperation of urban bodies to complete the survey within the stipulated timeframe.
Earlier, Director of Settlement and Land Records, Shri Rohit Kadam, welcomed the attendees and explained how NAKSHA would efficiently manage land records. The event was attended by notable figures including Collector, North, Dr. Sneha Gitte, IAS, Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector, South Goa, and representatives from Municipal Corporations and panchayats.
