PANAJI: Goa today inaugurated the Clean Energy Roadmap 2050 at an Implementation Workshop held in Panaji, aiming to steer the state towards a clean, green, and sustainable future. The event was chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, in the presence of Power Minister Shri Sudin Dhavalikar and other dignitaries.
The roadmap introduces several key initiatives, including the Goa Renewable Energy Capacity Planning Report, the Net Positive Panchayat (NPP) Initiative—India’s first program to make every panchayat energy self-sufficient—and a MoU with SELCO Foundation to solarize healthcare facilities across the state. Through these measures, along with programs promoting green cooking, solar rooftops, and bioenergy, the state aims to achieve self-reliant and sustainable villages.
Commenting on the initiative, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “The Goa Clean Energy Roadmap 2050 is a milestone in our journey towards sustainable development. Through initiatives like green cooking, solar rooftops, and bioenergy, we are working to make every village self-reliant in energy. I urge industries, partners, and citizens to join us in making Goa a model clean energy state, fulfilling the vision of a greener and resilient India envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.”
Officials emphasized that the roadmap will strengthen renewable energy adoption, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable livelihoods, positioning Goa as a leading state in clean energy solutions.
