Panaji: Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goa is emerging as a frontrunner in India’s healthcare transformation by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday.
Addressing a joint press conference, Rane highlighted that with the support of AstraZeneca and Qure.AI, the state has already screened over one lakh chest X-rays using AI-based technology. The initiative has led to the identification of thousands of critical lung nodules and has reduced diagnosis time by more than 50 per cent.
“Goa is among the first states in the country to successfully scale AI-enabled lung cancer detection across Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres. This is a major step towards early diagnosis and timely treatment,” Rane said.
He stated that the government’s focus is on early detection, faster treatment and saving lives, especially by reaching patients at the grassroots level. The Health Minister added that the state plans to expand the programme to cover more than two lakh AI-based screenings in the next phase.
“Our goal is clear—early detection, faster treatment and saving lives. We are committed to making Goa a national model for AI-driven diagnostics and ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all,” Rane said.
Emphasising Goa’s leadership in innovation, the Health Minister said the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technology for public welfare. “Goa will lead, Goa will innovate, and Goa will save lives,” he added.
