PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that Goa is tapping into the power of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to introduce innovative technologies, including AI-powered X-ray screening and Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAAT), to accelerate the early detection and elimination of Tuberculosis (TB).
The state’s active involvement in the nationwide “100 Days for TB Elimination” campaign, which is being spearheaded by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, was emphasized by Rane.
Rane stated, “Naddaji stressed the significance of multi-level engagement—from state legislatures to Panchayati Raj Institutions—to maximize the campaign’s reach and impact in a crucial virtual meeting with Chief Ministers, MLAs, and Council members from across states.”
Goa is setting the standard at the state level by using PPPs to deploy cutting-edge technologies, such as AI-powered X-ray scans and NAAT devices for early TB detection.
Goa’s focused initiatives in high-risk areas, cooperation with local influencers, and the active participation of locals through the #NikshayMitra initiative were also highlighted by the health minister. “Goa is establishing itself as a model state in the fight against tuberculosis with these efforts,” Rane continued.
In order to aid TB patients in their recuperation, the #NikshayMitra campaign pairs them with donors who send monthly nourishment kits till the end of therapy.
To further support the state’s TB control initiatives, Rane further suggested combining the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD) with Health Services, especially by enlisting the help of Anganwadi workers at the local level.
