NEW DELHI: The Goa-London (Gatwick) direct flight, temporarily suspended since June 2025, is scheduled to resume in the Winter Schedule 2025, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, informed the Rajya Sabha today.
The update came in response to a question by Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Mhalu Shet Tanavade regarding the resumption of international air connectivity from India’s secondary cities, particularly Goa.
Air India had launched 24 international routes since July 2023, but four were temporarily suspended due to commercial reasons, including the Goa-London service.
The Ministry clarified that while the Government fosters international connectivity through bilateral Air Services Agreements (ASAs), the start of direct international flights is determined commercially by airlines based on passenger demand, availability of slots, and economic viability.
“Goa, a high-demand destination for both tourism and the diaspora, has been designated as a point of call for multiple countries, including the UK, and is open for unlimited operations to 18 international destinations from ASEAN and SAARC countries (except Pakistan and Afghanistan)” MoS said
Air India had announced the temporary suspension of its direct service between Goa (Mopa) and London (Gatwick) until July 15, 2025, as part of a wider reduction in its international operations involving Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft.
The affected route, AI 145/146, which currently operates three times a week, had been put on hold due to what the airline describes as network-wide adjustments.
