Panaji: Goa’s experienced badminton players delivered an inspiring performance at the Yonex Sunrise All India Masters Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026 held in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Competing against top veterans from across the country, the Goan contingent secured multiple medals and once again highlighted the depth of sporting talent present in the state.
Dr Manju Khandeparker emerged as one of the standout performers of the championship. Partnering with Mamta Rani Yadav, she claimed the gold medal in the Women Doubles 60+ category after a series of confident and well controlled matches. Dr Manju added another achievement to her campaign by winning a bronze medal in the Mixed Doubles 60+ event alongside partner Dhrubajyoti Sharma.
The Men Doubles 70+ competition also brought success for Goa. The experienced pair of Pradeep Dhond and Tanaji Sawant displayed excellent coordination and tactical awareness throughout the event. Their determined run took them to the final, where they finished with a well deserved silver medal and earned appreciation from fellow competitors.
Dr Satish Kudchadkar proved that stamina and skill can flourish at any stage of life. Competing in the Men Singles 80+ category, he fought through challenging rounds to secure the silver medal. He further strengthened his medal tally by winning bronze in the Men Doubles 80+ event with partner Chandrashekarappa B, demonstrating remarkable consistency on court.
The achievements of the four players have generated pride within the local badminton community. Their disciplined preparation and willingness to compete at a national level have been viewed as a strong motivation for younger athletes who aspire to represent Goa in the future.
Speaking on the success, the leadership of the Goa Badminton Association expressed admiration for the dedication shown by the masters players. The performances were described as proof that commitment to fitness and love for the game can continue well beyond conventional sporting years.
The tournament results have reinforced Goa’s growing reputation in veteran badminton circles. With several medals across different age groups, the state has once again shown that experience combined with passion can produce memorable victories on the national stage.
