PANAJI: In a groundbreaking collaboration, Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, USA, has partnered with Goa Medical College (GMC) to elevate cardiac care in the state.
The partnership introduces advanced medical procedures, including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), providing Goans with access to specialized heart treatments right at home.
Previously, patients requiring such advanced procedures would have to travel outside Goa, incurring not only significant financial and time-related burdens but also emotional stress.
With this partnership, these patients can now undergo world-class, minimally invasive cardiac procedures without the need for travel.
“This partnership is a game-changer for the people of Goa. It will save lives and reduce the costs and emotional strain associated with seeking medical care elsewhere,” said Vishwajit Rane, the Health Minister
“With the introduction of advanced cardiac treatments, Goa Medical College is not just strengthening its medical infrastructure but positioning itself as a regional center of excellence for cardiac care.”
The collaboration also promises significant academic and professional growth for GMC’s doctors and medical students.
The exchange of expertise and hands-on training will enrich the medical community in Goa, providing opportunities to learn the latest global practices in heart disease management.
For GMC, this partnership offers substantial global exposure, enhancing the institution’s reputation and increasing its ability to treat and manage structural heart disease effectively.
The collaboration highlights GMC’s commitment to becoming a leading hub for innovative and specialized medical care in India, serving not only the people of Goa but also patients from neighboring regions.
