DABOLIM: Dabolim MLA and Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho today has hit out at the Indian Navy claiming that they have not been cooperating with the civilians.
“Indian Navy has not been cooperating with the Indian Navy. I have already spoken to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on this issue,” said Godinho
He further demanded that the Navy must show the permissions taken from local authorities while constructing high-rise buildings in the area.
“Earlier, the Navy was cooperative. It should re-think its relationship with society. It is behaving like an arbitrator. The Navy should think about the interests of civilians,” said Godinho, adding that he does not blame the High Court for the order.
“The Navy should not take a tough stance against civilians just because the order has been issued.” It ought to conduct a new survey, Godinho stated.
“They are not animals to be pushed into small structures; they are humans,” he said, adding that the Navy had previously granted the residents permission to raise the height to 3.5 meters. Now, however, the Navy is asking them to maintain a height of about 1.5 meters.
