PANAJI: The Goa government has taken a major step towards developing the state as an international wellness destination by introducing a new policy framework for the sector.
The initiative lays down guidelines to organise and regulate wellness services such as Ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy and other holistic therapies. Authorities aim to bring uniform standards across the industry through proper registration, certification and monitoring of wellness centres.
Officials said the move is intended to enhance the quality and authenticity of services offered, while also strengthening Goa’s image among global travellers seeking health and wellness experiences.
The framework is designed to integrate wellness into the state’s tourism ecosystem by leveraging Goa’s natural advantages and long-standing appeal as a leisure destination. By doing so, the government hopes to diversify tourism and reduce dependence on conventional segments.
The policy also emphasises sustainable growth, encouraging responsible practices and ensuring that operators adhere to defined norms. It is expected to open up opportunities for investment and collaboration between private players and the government.
With the global demand for wellness tourism on the rise, the state sees this as a strategic opportunity to position itself as a key player in the sector.
Officials believe that the structured approach will not only improve service standards but also attract both domestic and international visitors looking for holistic health and rejuvenation experiences.
