PANAJI: Goa University organised the Inter Collegiate Volleyball Championship for Men and Women 2022-23 from 10th to 13th January 2023 at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa University Campus, Taleigao-Goa.
Goa Multi Faculty College, Dharbandora, won the men’s title, and St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, won the women’s title.
In the women’s finals, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, defeated SSA Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-12.
In the men’s finals, Goa Multi Faculty College, Dharbandora, defeated.S. Dempo College, Cujira, 18-25, 25-15, 25-12, 18-25 and won the deciding set 15-8.
Earlier in the semis finals in the Men’s category, Goa Multi Faculty College, Dharbandora defeated V. P’s Mandre College, Mandre 25-20, 26-24 and 25-22 and S. Dempo College, Cujira defeated Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim 25-27, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-14.
In the semis finals of the Women’s category, SSA Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem defeated Carmel College Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem 25-16, 25-11 and St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa defeated Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Center, Assagao 25-19, 10-25, 25-12.
All 32 men’s and 22 women’s teams participated in the four days Inter College Volleyball Championships.
Rama Dhawaskar, Volleyball Coach, Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of Goa, was the Chief Guest for the presentation ceremony. He presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-ups.
St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa women’s team Jeolla D’Souza, Flavina Rodrigues, Tanisha Murgod, Sukanya Naik, Analisa D’Souza, Veena Naik, Yukta Mahato, Santoshi Nagekar, Richa Gawade, Riya Salgaonkar, Khushi Harmalkar and Maithili Kauthnkar.
Goa Multi Faculty College Men team Aksahy Gaonkar, Sahil Malvade, Satyam Sawant, Prayag Sawant, Ashik Gaude, Abhimanyu Saini, Jesper Fernandes, Sanket Dessai, Prince Saini, Satish Zangli, Naman Gaonkar and Vedant Gaonkar.
