PANAJI: Goa is nearing the 10 lakh mark in terms of COVID19 vaccination administration, with 1,18,204 persons fully vaccinated.
As per Information from the health department, 6,94,047 people have been administered the first dose.
The health ministry has allocated 9,98,460 doses to the state of Goa till now, with 1,27,270 doses remaining in balance with stock.
The government is set to purchase 2 lakh doses of Covaxin from Bharat Biotech for 18-44, of which there are approximately 6.5 lakh persons.
Dr Sawant said over 50,000 persons who had completed 84 days of the first job had not yet turned up for the second dose.
Speaking about preparation for the third wave of the pandemic, he said all required precautions were being taken, but the social response was very important to combat.
He said human resources were being trained, infrastructure was being created, and required medication was being purchased to combat the pandemic. Appropriate social behaviour, awareness and vaccination were key to combating the Covid pandemic.
