PONDA: Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh comprising 19 Communities in Goa, has demanded one more Government Medical College and Hospital for South Goa.
OBC Convenor for Goa Madu Naik, along with office bearers addressing to media, stressed the need for additional government medical College and hospital and urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for a new Government Medical College and Hospital for South Goa on lines of GMC at Bambolim, so that poor people from the rural area would get better treatment.
He said he had already discussed with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant the need for a Government Hospital.
He said Private colleges, along with Hospitals, are not affordable to OBC communities and so stressed Government colleges and hospitals.
He said currently, people can’t afford costly treatment in Private hospitals.
He pointed out that Sub District Hospitals like Ponda have no facilities, and At the time of emergency, people are forced to take treatment in private hospitals or shifted to GMC.
GMC is working beyond its capacity on medical facilities, doctors and consultants and needs additional Hospitals and Colleges for South Goa for growing requirements.
He said this would also benefit Bahujans to pursue Medical courses.
