The Goa government has notified a new telecom infrastructure policy aimed at accelerating the rollout of 5G services across the state. The policy introduces uniform guidelines for installing mobile towers, poles and small cells on government land, along with a streamlined approval process.
According to the notification, rental charges for ground-based towers in urban areas have been fixed at ₹3 lakh for a five-year term, while rooftop towers will cost ₹60,000. Rural areas will pay half these rates. The framework also prescribes registration and processing fees, stricter penalties for unauthorised towers and a 50 percent increase in renewal charges.
Officials said the policy encourages telecom operators to share tower infrastructure to reduce duplication and improve efficiency. All applications for telecom infrastructure must be filed through the Central Right-of-Way (RoW) Portal to ensure faster and more transparent clearances.
Government officials stated that the revised norms and simplified procedures will significantly speed up 5G deployment across Goa.
