PANAJI: Goa NRI Commission has stated that it is closely observing developments in West Asia and has received only two minor inquiries regarding Goans in the affected countries, with no reports of serious issues.
NRI Commissioner Adv. Narendra Sawaikar said he has been in touch with the Goan community in Dubai and other Gulf nations, who have confirmed that the situation is currently stable and under control.
He urged citizens to avoid spreading unverified or sensational information. “According to locals, there is no immediate cause for concern. Authorities are issuing safety guidelines, which residents are advised to follow carefully,” Sawaikar added.
The Commissioner appealed to Goans residing in the Gulf, as well as their families in Goa, to stay calm, remain vigilant, adhere to official advisories, and refrain from unnecessary travel. He emphasized that there is no report so far of any Goan being stranded.
Sawaikar also confirmed that the NRI Commission is maintaining regular contact with officials in Dubai and the Union Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety and well-being of Goans in the region. The Commission assured that it will continue coordinating with relevant agencies and provide timely assistance if required.
