PANAJI: In a bid to revolutionize traffic management and enhance the tourist experience, Goa has become the first Indian state to implement a QR code-based system for verifying vehicle documents.
This innovative approach, launched in the scenic coastal state, aims to streamline traffic flow by minimizing unnecessary road checks.
By leveraging technology, Goa is setting a new benchmark for other states to follow, ensuring that visitors can enjoy a hassle-free journey while adhering to traffic regulations.
The system works by generating a unique QR code once a tourist’s vehicle documents are verified. This code, sent via SMS, remains valid for up to 12 hours, allowing travellers to move freely without repeated checks.
If stopped by traffic officials, tourists can simply present the QR code, which, when scanned, confirms that their vehicle documentation is already verified and approved. To date, the Goa police have issued over 4,000 QR codes, significantly reducing the inconvenience of frequent document inspections.
The Quick Pass mobile app, developed by the Goa police, powers this initiative. It includes advanced features such as geotagging, traffic checkpoint mapping, and real-time traffic analytics. These functionalities enable senior officials to optimize traffic management strategies, enhancing road safety and streamlining traffic flow.
By streamlining vehicle checks, visitors can explore Goa’s stunning landscapes without unnecessary interruptions, making the state a more enjoyable and convenient destination for travellers.
