PANAJI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Goa was playing important role in the success of the world’s largest and fastest vaccination drive.
PM Modi today interacted with Goans, including health workers, Panchayats, Cabinet ministers, and the public to congratulate on achieving 100 per cent vaccination of the first dose.
“Goa was playing important role in the success of the world’s largest and fastest vaccination drive. Sabko vaccine, muft vaccine. In past few months, Goa fought bravely against heavy rainfall, cyclone & flood, under the leadership of CM Pramod Sawant,” said PM Modi while interacting with Goans
He further appreciated all doctors, medical staff, people in administration in the country.
“With your efforts, India made a record of vaccinating 2.5 crore people in a single day. Even countries that are considered prosperous & powerful could not do it,” PM Narendra Modi
Modi said that the efforts undertaken by the state government that resulted in the successful vaccination coverage include organisation of successive “Tika Utsavs” for community mobilisation and grassroot outreach, targeted vaccination for priority groups such as inoculation at workplaces and old age homes among others.
Continuous community engagement to remove doubts and apprehensions was also done. The state also overcame challenges like Cyclone Tauktae to ensure rapid vaccination coverage, the PMO noted.
During his virtual interaction, the prime minister said, “Goa’s vaccine wastage prevention model will help other parts of the country.”
“People had many fears initially, they were not coming forward to take COVID19 vaccine, we assured them that vaccine is safe, people saw that those who got vaccine did not experience any problem, we were thus able to remove fears,” said Dr. Nitin, Lecturer, Goa Medical College while speaking to PM
In another interaction, Nazir Shaikh briefed PM Modi on he called and told everyone to go to vaccination centre, those who could not – we took them by scooter/car and dropped them back at home after vaccination.
CM Sawant in between said that state took TikaUtsav to every village of Goa, we celebrated the vaccine festival multiple times, we made walk-in COVID19 vaccination and on-the-spot registration easy, all departments, doctors, nurses and field officers worked in coordination to achieve our targets.

Later, Sweety S told Prime Minister that they conducted special Tika Utsav for people who had difficulties in reaching vaccination centres, we also arranged transportation facilities for such people.
Meanwhile, PM said that more than 15 lakh vaccinations every hour, over 26,000 vaccinations every minute took place yesterday, and more than 425 people were administered vaccines every second yesterday.
