PANAJI: North Goa police have stepped up efforts to monitor habitual criminals, opening 11 new history sheets over the past week.
This brings the total number of history-sheeters in the district to 135, following a comprehensive review of crime data from various police stations.
Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta explained that the initiative aims to closely track individuals involved in multiple offenses and prevent them from engaging in further criminal activities.
“After analyzing crime records across the district, several repeat offenders were identified as suitable for history sheets.
We have opened 11 new files in the past week, bringing the total to 135. Our focus remains on keeping these individuals under surveillance to deter any future crimes.
This is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and create a strong deterrent against crime,” Gupta said.
Among the police stations, Old Goa leads with the highest number of history sheeters at 23, followed by Calangute with 20, Mapusa 17, Panaji 15, and Anjuna 14.
Smaller jurisdictions such as Mopa, Mandrem, and Agassaim have between one and three history sheets each.
Notable among the recent additions are Gloan Pednekar from Caranzalem, who faces six cases related to crimes against women and property registered at Panaji police station, and Yogesh Govekar from Vagator, linked to multiple bodily offense cases with seven registered at Anjuna police station and two at Calangute.
The police department continues to prioritize strict monitoring of repeat offenders to maintain law and order in North Goa.
