CANACONA: In a raid conducted late Wednesday evening, Canacona police arrested four persons, including the premises owner, for Gambling activities at Gulem in Canacona.
Kust Payton Gaonkar, age 48 yrs, Janu Jiblo Gaonkar, age 63 yrs and Shrikant Shanu Velip, age 38 yrs, all r/o Gulem Canacona, were caught red-handed while playing card gambling and taken into custody.
The premises owner, namely Dinesh Ram Gaonkar, age 40 yrs r/o Gullem is also arrested for allowing his premises to play card gambling.
According to Canacona PI, the premises of a Milk Centre at Gulem in Canacona were raided by a police team who found the premises were used for gambling activities using playing cards. Three persons found red-handed were immediately arrested, and cash of Rs.8400/- found on their persons and playing cards were attached by police.
The Divya Milk Centre, Gulem, is owned by Dinesh Gaonkar, while the premises owner, Dinesh Ram Gaonkar, is also taken into custody by police.
Sources pointed out that similar (playing Cards) gambling activities involving many youths and others are going on in a few other places, particularly in the rainy season and during late night hours in and outskirts of Chaudi town in Canacona.
