CANACONA: Canacona police uncovered illicit liquor storage facilities during raids at three locations close to Tirval-Poinguinim, which is only 500 meters from the Karnataka border.
Eight people were arrested as a result of the crackdown; four of them were Karnataka-based traffickers and four of the owners.
Through the combined efforts of Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas and SDPO Canacona Dy SP Tika Singh, over Rs 5 lakh worth of different brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) were seized.
It was discovered that the places where illegal alcohol was stored were obviously breaking the law.
