MAPUSA: Three cops were victims of the late-night road rage on Wednesday at Mapusa.
Accused men assaulted the cops before fleeing the scene.
In a big twist to the road rage case in Mapusa, the police constables actually turned out to be the victims in the case.
According to police FIR, there was a minor accident between the vehicle in which police were travelling and the Skoda car of the accused.
The accused then assaulted one of the police and later started to shoot video accusing the cops of drunk driving and hitting them.
When the Mapusa police reached on site, the accused fled from the scene and were caught after a chase somewhere near Bastora-Ucassaim.
The accused according to police have confessed to planting beer bottles in the vehicle of the constables. Police register offences against Raj Salgaonkar, Erich Fernandes, Jovit Coutinho & Pavan Tirke.
One of the accused was out on bail in a murder case.
The FIR says, accused persons with their common intention over the issue of road rage abused the complainant’s friend Mallesh Joodi R/o Cuchelim, Khadpawado, Mapusa, Bardez, Goa with filthy words, assaulted him with slaps, fist blows, and kicks causing him bodily injuries threatened the complainant his friend Mallesh Joodi, Tejas Gurav, Sharad Bhatkande with dire consequences to hurt them.
Further, accused No. 4 intentionally circulated the video footage with defamatory content thereby injuring the reputation of the complainant and his friends in the society.
Hence Offence U/Sec. 504, 324, 506 (ii), 500 R/w 34 IPC stands registered.
