PANAJI: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force of the Goa Police on destroyed 26.71 kilograms of narcotic substances at an incinerator facility in IDC, Kundaim.
According to officials, the contraband was linked to 11 NDPS cases investigated by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), all of which have completed trial proceedings. The drugs were incinerated under strict supervision and in the presence of designated authorities, following due legal procedure.
Police said the disposal of seized narcotics is part of a sustained effort to prevent recovered drugs from ever re-entering the illegal market once court processes are concluded.
This marks the second such exercise this year. In January, the Goa Police had destroyed nearly 49 kilograms of narcotics.
Reaffirming their commitment to curbing drug trafficking, officials said enforcement measures would be stepped up with the tourist season approaching.
