MORMUGAO: In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into a US deportation scam, Vasco police have confirmed that the primary accused, Stanny George of Captain George Consultancy, is currently out of Goa and unavailable for questioning. This revelation comes after two Goan individuals were deported from the US after being caught attempting to cross the border illegally via Mexico.
The victims, who were allegedly cheated out of ₹18.5 lakh by Stanny George, had been promised jobs in the US but were instead sent on a perilous journey through Mexico. The Vasco police have filed an FIR against George based on the complaints from these victims. The charges include Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for cheating and Sections 10 & 24 of the Emigration Act, 1983, for illegal emigration.
The office of Captain George Consultancy in New Vaddem, Vasco, remains closed, and George’s father received a notice served by the police. George’s lawyer has responded to the notice, stating that the accused will return to Goa in the first week of March. “We have initiated our investigation and are gathering all relevant details related to the case,” a source from the Vasco police stated.
This emigration scam has highlighted the vulnerabilities of individuals seeking employment abroad and the need for stringent measures to prevent such fraudulent activities.
