PANAJI: Amid rising tensions at the international border and Line of Control, the Goa Police has issued a public advisory calling on citizens to stay calm, alert, and responsible.
The advisory comes as part of precautionary measures to maintain internal security and counter misinformation.
In the statement issued by Rahul Gupta, IPS, PRO Goa Police, the public has been urged to immediately report any suspicious activity or objects by dialing the police control room number 112.
The police have warned that hostile elements may attempt to spread fake news, edited visuals, or misleading narratives aimed at creating panic.
Citizens are advised not to share unverified content, especially relating to military or national security matters, as it could incite fear and is punishable under law.
“Stay informed through official government channels and avoid relying on forwarded messages or social media rumors,” the advisory said.
Citizens have also been strictly warned against circulating visuals of military personnel or infrastructure, as doing so could endanger national security.
Goa Police further cautioned that cyber fraudsters may impersonate defense or government officials to exploit the situation.
Any suspicious social media profiles or phishing attempts should be reported to [www.cybercrime.gov.in](http://www.cybercrime.gov.in) or the Cyber Helpline at 1930.
Reassuring the public, the police said they remain on high alert and are working round-the-clock to ensure the safety and security of all citizens. Public cooperation is deemed critical during this time.
