PANAJI: In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa Police have intensified security operations across the state, conducting widespread verifications and checks.
According to officials, a total of 4,198 individuals have been verified in the ongoing crackdown, including 78 persons from Kashmir. The police have also rounded up 563 individuals for further questioning and carried out checks on 177 foreign nationals.
Authorities said the stepped-up measures are part of a preemptive strategy to ensure law and order and maintain peace across Goa, which sees a high influx of tourists from across the country and abroad.
In North Goa, a total of 5,325 tenants and 2,566 domestic workers were verified. The police also arrested 78 individuals under preventive action, made 345 stranger roll entries, rounded up 906 suspected persons, and booked 34 cases against unauthorized hawkers.
Key areas such as Kamrabhat Miramar, Indiranagar Chimbel, Merces, St. Cruz, and Mapusa were among the locations where combing operations were focused.
The operations were particularly aimed at identifying hideouts of anti-social elements and verifying individuals residing in hotels, guest houses, and homestays across the region. Vulnerable spots like Arpora, Nagoa, Colvale, and Malpem Railway Station were among those covered in the sweeping drive.
In South Goa, similar efforts were carried out, with 2,515 tenants and 433 strangers verified.

Key areas of focus included Mangoor Hills, New Vaddem, and Bogmalo Beach.
The initiative also saw a marked increase in coastal security measures. Combing operations were launched at jetties, and police personnel were deployed at sensitive beaches.
A new structured boat patrolling pattern has been introduced along Goa’s 105 km coastline, divided into three zones: Baina to Baga coast, Tiracol to Baga coast, and Baina to Polem coast, ensuring robust maritime surveillance.
In addition to physical security measures, cyber vigilance has been strengthened. The Social Media Monitoring Team is now maintaining real-time surveillance across various platforms, immediately acting on reports of provocative or disturbing content.
The Sudarshan Application, developed by the central government, is being used for enhanced tracking and monitoring of viral content to prevent the spread of harmful material.
Goa Police has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order through comprehensive and coordinated efforts across all sectors.
