SALIGAO: Saligao Police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a theft at a resort villa in Nerul and recovered Rs. 2.8 lakh in stolen cash.
The case was registered under Cr. No. 33/2025, Section 305 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, following a complaint lodged by Vijay Prakash (31), a businessman from Hyderabad. Prakash reported that between 8 PM on September 16 and 12.30 AM on September 17, unknown persons broke into Villa No. F-4 at Three Kings Resort, Nerul, and decamped with Rs. 2,80,000.
Through sustained investigation and technical surveillance, police tracked down the accused, identified as Akash Mahato, a native of Niscinatapur, Puruliya, West Bengal. He was arrested in Vasco while attempting to flee to his hometown, and the stolen money was recovered from him.
The operation was led by PSI David Costa and PSI Sarvesh Bhandari, assisted by PC Shrikrishna Redkar and PC Sunny Pednekar, under the supervision of PI Milind Bhuimbar, SDPO Vishwesh Karpe, and SP North Rahul Gupta.
