CANACONA: Canacona police have arrested two persons including a native from Himachal Pradesh in possession with Narcotic substance worth Rs.7,90,000/- at Agonda on Thursday afternoon.
According to Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas, a NDPS raid was conducted between 12.40 hrs to 15.00 hrs on Thursday and two persons were caught red handed near Saleri Bridge in Agonda in possession with Narcotics Substance.
The narcotics substance suspected to be Charas is weighed at 790 grams and have a market value of rupees 7,90,000/-, informed Gawas.
Canacona police provided the names of the duo caught in the raid are Shivkumar Raju Naik, aged 39 years, resident of Agonda, Canacona and Rakesh Kumar s/o Kashmir Singh, native of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh . Both the accused suspected to be drug–peddlers on Canacona’s coast are arrested and placed in Police Custody at Canacona Police Station.
Incidentally, Canacona police have successfully conducted NDPS raids since last year as the Tourism season begins in the taluka. Last year on the night 22nd September, Canacona police have arrested a Orrisa native with 1.230 kg of Ganja worth 1,23,000/- ,and on 28th November last, another Odisha native was caught red handed at Devabhaga in possession with 3kg of ganja worth of Rs.3,00,000/-. This year February 28th, two Canacona residents were caught in possession with charas and ganja totally valued at 6.66 l.
