CALANGUTE: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo remarked that if we continue opposing tourism-related activities, we may have to seek work outside of Goa.
When the MLA brought up the topic of the Sunburn festival being held in the state, he emphasized that the festival should only be planned after residents had been consulted.
Lobo said, “If we oppose everything, then tourism will stop,” in response to a query regarding the resistance to the Sunburn festival. Where do we look for work? Should we venture beyond Goa?
Lobo expressed his approval of the Sunburn festival taking place in his district. He continued by saying that over the course of his ten years in office, he has continuously sought to guarantee that job prospects for residents are maintained.
Lobo mentioned that two previous Sunburn locations were Vagator and Candolim. “These are pleasant places. The government must collaborate with officials to decide the festival’s site in order to guarantee that attendees and emergency vehicles have access to all necessary facilities and routes,” he said.
According to Lobo, Sunburn ought to occur in a welcoming environment, and he intends to discuss the matter with the Minister of Tourism and the Chief Minister.
He stated, “The state and the locals will benefit from the revenue generation,” pointing out that the little hotels, cafés, and guest homes in Anjuna, Vagator, and Assagao will all make money from the influx of guests during the event.
In answer to inquiries regarding wrongdoing at Sunburn, Lobo said that law enforcement ought to be in charge of putting an end to these issues and ensuring that narcotics are not present at the festival location.
