OLD GOA: About 1,500 police officers will be sent to Old Goa for the decennial Exposition of the Relics of St. Francis Xavier, which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to January 5, 2025, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar on Monday.
Goa police would oversee the security arrangements for the Exposition, according to Kumar, who presided over a conference to assess them. He also stated that there is no need for more police officers from outside the state.
“We talked about the deployment of local police, the security unit, and the traffic,” Kumar said.
According to him, the goal is to guarantee that there won’t be any disruptions throughout the exposition.
According to him, “there should be no criminal activity of any kind because whenever there is a big crowd, some petty criminals come, not only from the state but sometimes from the neighboring areas.”
He went on to say, “The parking arrangements and other traffic arrangements should be such that the experience of the people visiting the Exposition should be smooth.”
He claimed that since visitors will be coming from Goa, other regions of India, and other nations, the overall setup would be excellent.
According to Kumar, they also spoke with representatives of the Exposition Secretariat and other event-related officials.
“We have taken note of their concerns,” Kumar stated.
He added that the border checkpoints will receive the appropriate guidelines to ensure that visitors to the exposition don’t experience any problems.
According to him, the 1,500 police officers that the Goa police would deploy will be sufficient.
“We’ll manage to make it.” “There is no need for an outside police force,” Kumar stated.
