PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today has assured to take action against an IPS officer, who was reportedly involved in molesting a girl in a night club in Goa.
“We will not tolerate this; strict action will be taken in connection with the matter,” said Sawant on the floor of the House.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai raised the issue on the House floor. Sardesai urged that the IPS officer be suspended right away.
“This case is much more dangerous than drunk and driving, the IPS officer should be sent home, these officers think they are on holiday,” said Sardesai.
Reports claimed that an IPS officer was hit by a woman in the nightclub after he tried to molest her. The media report has not named the officer and also the date of the incident.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo speaking to reporters outside the state assembly said that the said IPS Officer should be suspended and recalled.
“It’s not only to recall him back but he should be suspended, all clubs have CCTV and CM Sawant can see with his own eyes,’ said Lobo.
He said that all the tourists who come down to Goa want to be safe and go back home to their respective homes safely, they do not want to fall in any kind of trouble.
“If somebody is misbehaving with them, it is a serious complaint, Goa Police is looked at highest respect we too respect them. The girl has slapped the IPS officer very badly,” he added.
The Coastal MLA also said that he is sure that Chief Minister will take necessary action because he is the highest level officer.
