Panaji: Goa Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for “creating fear” among people over a possible nuclear power plant in the state, asserting that no such proposal has been made by the government.
“We never said we would have a nuclear plant in Goa – neither the Union Minister, the State government, nor anyone else,” Dhavalikar told reporters. “It is our duty to study new technologies that are emerging. That doesn’t mean we are bringing a nuclear power plant to Goa.”
The minister accused the opposition of misleading the public and politicizing the matter. “Congress and AAP need not tell me what is good for Goa. I am ready to have a discussion with them if they wish,” he added.
Dhavalikar emphasized that the government’s intention is to explore the best and safest energy solutions for the state’s future and that any decision will be based on detailed study and public interest.
