PANAJI: As part of the Poshan Pakhwada2025 initiative, Goa is leading the way in promoting the inclusion of millets in daily diets, with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane highlighting their role in improving nutrition and health outcomes across the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rane emphasized that millets, rich in fiber, iron, and antioxidants, offer a sustainable and nutritious food option that aligns with India’s broader goals of food security and well-being.
Anganwadi Centres across Goa have become focal points of this campaign, hosting interactive sessions and simple recipe demonstrations to educate mothers and children on the nutritional value of millets. The initiative aims to reconnect communities with these traditional grains, encouraging mindful eating habits and balanced nutrition.
“By integrating millets into everyday meals, we are not only nourishing our citizens but also preserving a vital part of our agricultural heritage,” said Rane.
The state’s proactive approach aligns with the national emphasis on revitalizing traditional food systems as a pathway to combat malnutrition and promote holistic health.
