PANAJI: The State Police Control Room (SPCR) of the Goa Police has reported a significant decline in the number of calls received between January 1 and April 30, 2025, compared to the same period last year.
According to official data, a total of 10,816 calls were recorded in the first four months of 2025, down from 12,302 in 2024, marking a decrease of 1,486 calls or 12.08%.
The drop spans across all major categories of emergency and complaint calls, reflecting improved public safety, quicker police response, and more effective law enforcement.
Among the various categories, snatching incidents saw the sharpest decline at 50%, falling from 66 cases in 2024 to just 33 in 2025. Bullfighting-related complaints dropped by 42.9%, while crimes against women saw a notable 21.5% reduction, decreasing from 298 to 234 cases.
Thefts were down by 16.1%, noise pollution complaints by 13.2%, traffic-related calls by 11.9%, and fighting and assault cases reduced by 11.4%. Additionally, accident-related calls saw a drop of 9.9%.
The police particularly emphasized the drop in crimes against women as a key achievement, attributing it to sustained awareness campaigns, faster response times, and increased community engagement.
The overall figures are seen as a testament to the Goa Police’s focus on proactive enforcement, community outreach, and technological upgrades in emergency response systems.
The department reiterated its commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring safety through strategic policing and active collaboration with citizens.
Goa Police also urged residents to continue reporting any suspicious or unlawful activity by calling the 112 emergency helpline or visiting the nearest police station, stressing that public cooperation remains a cornerstone of effective law enforcement in the state.
