PANAJI: Goa is moving to make its water sports sector more tourist-friendly, transparent, and premium, with the Tourism Department rolling out measures to standardize rates, improve branding, and clamp down on unauthorized operations across all beaches.
The initiative, discussed in a meeting chaired by Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte with Director of Tourism Kedar Naik, Deputy Director Diksha Tari, Captain of Ports Octavio Rodrigues, and the Water Sports Association of Goa, focuses on creating a seamless experience for visitors while protecting the interests of licensed operators.
“Water sports are one of Goa’s biggest attractions. By ensuring fair pricing, safety, and consistency, we are putting the tourist experience front and center while supporting local operators who have nurtured this sector,” said Minister Khaunte. He also announced plans for a joint task force with coastal MLAs and enforcement agencies to tackle illegal operations and overcharging.
Director of Tourism Kedar Naik added, “Uniform branding and regulated rates will bring discipline, improve service quality, and elevate Goa’s standing as a premium coastal destination.” The Water Sports Association welcomed the move, noting that it will protect both operators and visitors while instilling confidence for the upcoming season.
Once the framework is officially implemented, all major beaches will operate under a regulated, transparent, and tourist-friendly system, ensuring that every ride, adventure, and water sport activity reflects Goa’s promise of memorable, safe, and high-quality experiences.
With this initiative, Goa is not just regulating a sector—it is reimagining the water sports experience to align with the state’s vision of premium, responsible, and enjoyable tourism.
