PANAJI: The Government of Goa has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC Limited to secure electricity supply from the upcoming Sipat Super Thermal Power Plant Stage-III in Chhattisgarh. This move aims to strengthen Goa’s energy security and meet the growing power demand within the state. The Sipat-III plant, currently under construction, will have a capacity of 800 MW and will utilize advanced Ultra-Supercritical Technology, which ensures better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Besides Goa, the power generated will also benefit states such as Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, fostering regional cooperation in energy sharing. This project aligns with India’s national objective to expand thermal power capacity to 80 GW by 2030. Goa officials expressed optimism that this partnership with NTPC will provide a stable and sustainable power supply, supporting the state’s economic growth and development. The Sipat-III project is set to play a vital role in enhancing Goa’s power infrastructure and delivering reliable, environmentally friendly electricity to its residents and industries.
